Freedom Summer Memorial

Located on Miami University's Historic Western Campus, this outdoor memorial commemorates civil rights workers who trained on the campus of The Western College for Women in preparation for registering voters in Mississippi during the summer of 1964. The murder of three of these trainees during Freedom Summer influenced passage of the 1964 Voting Rights Act.
